Pregnancy:

  • If taken at the time of conception:
    • Continue taking in early pregnancy but taper off slowly so that it is completely stopped by mid-pregnancy.
    • Vitex berries could potentially affect progesterone levels.
    • It is important to taper off slowly to avoid any dramatic changes in progesterone levels.

  • Safe in the final weeks of pregnancy.

Breastfeeding: Caution while breastfeeding as herbs like Vitex may lower milk supply. If you take it while breastfeeding, note any changes in milk supply and stop taking it if you see a decreasing pattern forming.

Tapering Protocol from Lead Herbalist, Kate Tietje:

  • Weeks 4-5: 8 drops
  • Weeks 6-7: 6 drops
  • Weeks 8-9: 4 drops
  • Weeks 10-11: 2 drops
  • Weeks 12: Stop

If pregnancy is not noticed until further than 4 weeks, adjust the time frame to a slow and steady progression similar to above and ending at the 12th week when the natural progesterone is more consistent in your body.

If taking drops more than once a day, follow the same drop tapering with the same number of times. For example, if taking 10 drops a day 3 times, start to taper with 8 drops a day 3 times, 6 drops a day 3 times, until to 0 drops.

Usage
